Mount Everest The highest mountain in the world is Mount Everest. Its peak rises to 8,848 m (29,028 ft 9 in) – the highest point in the world. First known as Peak XV on the Tibet - Nepal border, it was discovered to be the world's highest mountain in 1856 by the Survey Department of the Government of India, from theodolite readings taken in 1849 and 1850. I needed something I just couldn’t find in Nepal, and therefore had to order something on the internet and had it mailed. It shouldn’t have been an ordeal to write home about. Each year or so I need to have credit/debit cards sent to me and it usually costs at least $120 and this last time my brother put BA for Bagmati district in Nepal and it went to Basnia; it finally arrived. Another time I had it go to a friend in Kathmandu to his business, then I had it go to my other friend’s business in Changunarayan. These were the best plans, but I had to pay for FedX international rates for letters. Smart Driving Licenses to reduce fraud and illegal activity in Nepal

Nepal has now started issuing its so called "Smart Driving License". Good The  (DOTM) Department of Transport Management has been bringing its long-planned smart driving license and will eventually replace all paper driving licenses currently in use. The latest issued driving licenses are very similar to bank ATM cards. They have in them an electronic chip which stores driver’s name, address, vehicle information and others. The DOTM has also moved all the old driving license data to a digital platform. According to news reports, the department plans to complete replacing the technology enabled licence within three to five years. Till date, the DoTM has issued around 2 million driving licences, out of which around 1.5 million are estimated to be active.  The introduction of the so called "Smart License" is said to reduce mismanagement among DOTM employees and other issues related to fake driving licenses.  The DoTM initiati

Shivapuri National Park is widely popular among the people who love to hike and trek in Kathmandu. This is definitely one of the best things to do in Kathmandu. Just for a day’s hike it’s a very tiring but refreshing walk or rather a hike in the lush damp green forest which is totally worth every aching muscle in your legs. I had heard about Shivapuri hike being great and been to Nagi Gompa on an excursion via jeep drive rather than a hike. So, I was pretty excited to finally hike there. Oh God, there is a whole bunch of hikes and treks still on my wish list!
