Baudha Stupa is one of the most holy places of worship for Buddhists in Nepal. Every year hundreds and thousands of people from all over the world visit this holy place. For tourists this is a must stop place.

As per Buddhist traditions, you walk Clock Wise around the Stupa and say your prayers. In addition you can spin the Prayer Wheels as you walk.

After your walk feel free to stop by the many popular eateries along the Stupa. Some of the good ones are Cafe Aria for coffee and snacks, Road House Cafe for pizza, Galleria for everything else. Central Zoo of Kathmandu is Nepal's one and only Zoo. I have visited it many times over the few years and was curious to see how its doing. Definitely the Zoo administration needs to do more to give space to the animals. Looks to be a bit too congested for certain animals that need space. Our money saving tip: Buy an air pressure gauge if you plan on doing any cycling while you are here in Nepal. People tend to get a lot of flat tires and I believe I‘ve discovered the reason. People, even some mechanics, do not have an air pressure gauge so the tire is fine when they fix it, but after the person drives a while the air gets hot and expands. Driving on over inflated tires is not good, especially when the roads are filled with pot-holes and rocks; it’s a flat tire waiting to happen.  My suggestion is to have an air pressure gauge and keep the tires inflated properly. Even if you are taking a motorcycle or scooter it’ a good idea. History of Money Excavations in Tilaurkot during the period of 1967-1976, revealed that the earliest coins recorded in Nepal are ‘kushan’, ‘kaniksha’ and ‘havisha’ coins (1st century) and the ‘punch marked’ coins (6th and 5th century B.C.). King Mandeva’s rule in the 5th century gave birth to the Licchavi coins. It was during the Malla period that more systemization was brought in monetary terms. Coins were then issued in denominations of 2 mohur (equivalent to one rupee), 1 mohur (50 paisa), one and a half sukka (36 paisa), sukka (25 paisa), sukki, or ‘tinnani’, (12 paisa), anni (6 paisa), adhani (3 paisa), paisa (1 paisa), and dam (1/4 paisa). In 1545, Dolkha King Indrasinga Deva minted the first silver coins with the rupee coin weighing in at 11.6 gm (1 tola). Musical instruments, pasmina scarves, thangkas, pottery, etc., and so many people who are in your face with them, it is difficult to know what to buy or who to buy from. After two years I still can’t get a good deal on a pashmina scarf and had to just shake my head in amazement yesterday when my British guest showed me a beautiful scarf she got for only 1,000 NRs.    One of my favorite places in the area is the ancient Changu Narayan Temple site. It makes a nice side trip when you come to Bhaktapur, a must see in Nepal. The bus isn't much slower than a taxi would be so I recommend catching a local bus from Bhaktapur for 25 NRs.
